Purpose: Performs day to day duties associated with maintaining commercial information technology equipment and networks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Diagnoses and solves software and hardware problems related to company commercial information technology equipment.
2. Replaces and repairs defective/damaged equipment as necessary for commercial equipment. Information
Technology Specialist is responsible for testing and repair of all commercial computer hardware.
3. Installs and configure baseline software on company commercial and standalone computers.
4. Upgrades commercial operating systems and baseline software when appropriate.
5. Performs routine preventive and corrective maintenance including setting up, configuring, and operating of work station and peripheral equipment (printers, monitors, cameras, and teleconferencing equipment) for company commercial network.
6. Maintains daily control of bench area work orders and database entries for completed work orders for commercial network.
7. Performs help desk functions as needed.
8. Works with customers or management to determine desired results.
9. Ensure strict compliance to safety practices and support the Company’s Policies and Procedures.
10. Instills a safety first mentality within respective work areas and a culture that achieves low accident rates and minimal lost-time injuries.
11. Adhere to ISO Policies, Procedures, and Work Instructions in support of the Company’s Quality Management System.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:
a) High School diploma or equivalent required.
b) Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or Industry Certifications preferred.
Experience:
a) 3-4 years of experience in computer repair or network services or server operations center required and preferably International Experience or working with UN bodies or Multinational Companies.
b) Work experience may be substituted for educational requirements and/or educational achievements may be substituted for years of experience. Example: Two (2) years of experience is equivalent to (2) years of college and vice versa.
Specialized knowledge and skills:
a) Must have good working knowledge of current information technology including voice and data communications.
b) Must have advanced knowledge of servers, networks and desktop computer system hardware.
c) Must have good working knowledge of Fiber-Optic cable splicing and copper cable termination.
d) Knowledge of a broad variety of applications, network protocols and network infrastructure.
e) Ability to recognize, analyze, and provide solutions to difficult computer problems.
f) Ability to maintain software.
g) Ability to perform detailed work and accurately document material usage and work.
h) Effectively work independently or as a team member.
i) Must be skilled in all areas of keyboard use and computer hardware.
j) Must have experience with MS Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and other related applications. k) Must have good oral and written communications skills in English.
l) Must be able to function with an intermediate level of English oral and written language skills.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
a) Ability to perform job duties efficiently and effectively during a 77 hour work week.
b) Must be able to lift 25 lbs. continuously, 50 intermittently.
c) Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions including dust and high temperatures.
d) Must be able to endure long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
